Ohio Developmental Disabilities Network
The UCCEDD, Ohio Developmental Disabilities Council, the Disability Rights Ohio and Nisonger Center UCEDD at Ohio State University are partner organizations that, together, form the Ohio Developmental Disabilities Network. The four organizations are authorized under the Developmental Disabilities Assistance and Bill of Rights Act (Public Law 106-402) and receive funding from the United States Department of Health and Human Services, Administration on Developmental Disabilities.The Ohio Developmental Disabilities Network partners work collectively and collaboratively to support independence, advocacy and community integration of individuals with developmental disabilities.

Ohio Developmental Disabilities Council
The Ohio Developmental Disabilities Council is one of a national network of state councils, committed to self-determination and community inclusion for people with developmental disabilities.
DD Council receives federal funding for innovative advocacy, capacity building and systems change activities. These activities are designed to contribute to a coordinated system of services, supports and other assistance that is centered around and driven by individuals with developmental disabilities and their families.
The Ohio Developmental Disabilities Council consists of at least 30 members appointed by the governor. Members are people with developmental disabilities, parents and guardians of people with developmental disabilities, representatives from concerned state agencies, and nonprofit organizations and agencies that provide services to people with developmental disabilities.

Disability Rights Ohio is a non-profit corporation with a mission to advocate for the human, civil, and legal rights of people with disabilities in Ohio. Disability Rights Ohio replaced Ohio Legal Rights Service as Ohio’s Protection and Advocacy (P&A) system and Client Assistance Program (CAP) on October 1, 2012. Disability Rights Ohio is governed by a Board of Directors, primarily consisting of people with disabilities and family members of people with disabilities. Its mission is to advocate for the human, civil, and legal rights of people with disabilities in Ohio. Its vision is a society in which people with disabilities enjoy the same rights and opportunities as all people. Everyone is entitled to make decisions about where, how and with whom they will live and work as full and equal members of their communities. Disability Rights Ohio provides legal advocacy and rights protection to a wide range of people with disabilities. This includes assisting individuals with problems such as abuse, neglect, discrimination, access to assistive technology, special education, housing, employment, community integration, voting and rights protection issues with the juvenile and criminal justice systems. Disability Rights Ohio is Ohio’s federally mandated Protection and Advocacy System for Individuals with Mental Illness (PAIMI).

The Ohio State University Nisonger Center
The Nisonger Center was founded in 1966 as an interdisciplinary program of The Ohio State University. The United States Administration on Developmental Disabilities has designated Nisonger Center a “University Center for Excellence in Developmental Disabilities” (UCEDD). Nisonger Center clinics and services are led by professionals who have between 10 and 30 years of experience. The Center serves approximately 3,500 consumers each year. Nisonger’s former Rural Developmental Clinics has attracted recent national interest, and Nisonger’s Dental Clinic is funded to provide statewide technical assistance. Nisonger faculty also have consulted with the U.S. Department of Justice to prevent abuse in residential facilities.
