On July 20, the Ohio Disability and Health Program (ODHP) and the Ohio Affiliates of Susan G. Komen hosted a training seminar for Ohio mammography technologists. TheWomen with Disabilities Seminar for Mammography Technologists provided an opportunity to learn how to best serve women with various disabilities during a mammogram. Guest presenter, Edna Marr, R.T. (RM) provided information on positioning strategies. Panelists shared their personal experiences as well as tips for the audience. Technologists networked to share best practices when working with women with disabilities.

International Disability Work: LEND Trainees and Faculty Volunteer at School in Nicaragua
Several LEND students and faculty members have taken their knowledge on disability and health worldwide. In February 2013, LEND trainee, Emily Johnson, and former trainee Rosie McAuley joined LEND faculty Dr. Sandi Grether and Dr. Susan Wiley along with several others from CCHMC to volunteer for a 7-day experience in Nicaragua.
Ohio Service Providers Attend Healthy Lifestyles Train-the Trainer Workshops in Columbus
The Ohio Disability and Health Program held two Healthy Lifestyles for People with Disabilities Train-the-Trainer (T-the-T) workshops March 21-25th for individuals committed to teaching people with disabilities about living a healthy life. Master Trainers, Angela Weaver from the Oregon Office on Disability and Health, and Joe Basey from the City of Eugene Adaptive Recreation conducted the Healthy Lifestyles T-the-T workshop. Workshop attendees who completed the T-the-T workshop were certified as HL Lead Trainers and were provided with a curriculum/trainer’s guide and other materials they will need to implement the HL workshops with their perspective agencies.
