On the last weekend in January, the UCCEDD at Cincinnati Children’s hosted an RTS booklet release party at the Newport Aquarium, drawing over 100 guests from as far as Michigan, Illinois and Tennessee as well as regional guests from Indiana, Kentucky and Ohio! The booklet, “Understanding Rubinstein-Taybi Syndrome: A Guide for Families and Professionals” was developed to help family members of children with Rubinstein-Taybi Syndrome better explain their child’s condition to healthcare providers, teachers and family members. The booklet and event could not have happened with the generous support of the Dr. Jack Rubinstein Foundation at Cincinnati Children’s.

What is TOTS? Tiered Online Training and Supports (TOTS) is a web-based parenting support program designed to help parents reduce challenging behavior in young children with developmental delays.

Are you a sibling looking to get more involved in disability rights activism? The Arc’s National Sibling Council seeks to foster the active involvement of siblings of individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities (I/DD) in The Arc’s grassroots advocacy efforts nationwide. Siblings are an important and unique segment of the disability rights movement. We want your help as we work to promote and protect the rights of individuals with I/DD throughout the country.

The Arc seeks applications from siblings who are eager to take a leadership role in The Arc’s advocacy movement. Members of the council will be asked to complete the following:

• Participate in 4 quarterly conference calls each year.
• Carry out the advocacy action steps assigned in each call, and report back to the council.
• Encourage other siblings to join The Arc’s advocacy movement.
