He came to Cincinnati the first week of December 2015 to talk to children and adults about how we can work together to improve employment outcomes for people with disabilities.
Justice Bernstein’s visit included a day at Cincinnati Children’s Hospital Medical Center, and began with a stop in Seacrest Studio. There he was interviewed by children, talked about his work experiences and about being blind, and played a game called name that sound.
At lunch he met with high school students to talk about careers in law, visited the Perlman Center, and finally ended his day at the hospital with a round table discussion with UC UCEDD (University of Cincinnati University Center for Excellence in Developmental Disabilities) and LEND (Leadership Education in Neurodevelopmental and related Disabilities) professionals. The talk focused on the skills young people with disabilities need when preparing for employment and active lives in the community.
Justice Bernstein also talked about his own career as a lawyer, and how he would often advocate to make places more accessible for people with disabilities. He found that almost always, increasing the accessibility of a place — removing barriers, adding handrails and easier-to-read signage — would make the place better for everyone, with and without disabilities.
Rounding out his trip to Cincinnati, Justice Bernstein gave a keynote address at an event organized by the Cincinnati Chamber of Commerce’s Insights in Inclusion series. The event was held at the National Underground Railroad Freedom Center on December 2, and called, Empowering People with Disabilities in Our Workforce and Our Community. UC UCUCED’s Advocacy Coordinator, Dr. Kara Ayers, moderated a panel of local employers and employees to share experiences and practical tips on how to better integrate people with disabilities into work environments.
Justice Bernstein’s visit to Cincinnati Children’s was organized by CCHMC Community Relations, Guest Relations, Human Resources, and the UC UCEDD team. Thanks to the team for helping to bring Justice Bernstein’s passion for disabilities rights to Cincinnati.

Woh I love your content, saved to fav! .
Woah! I’m really enjoying the template/theme of this website. It’s simple, yet effective. A lot of times it’s tough to get that “perfect balance” between user friendliness and visual appearance. I must say that you’ve done a excellent job with this. In addition, the blog loads super quick for me on Opera. Excellent Blog!
I also use coconut oil with lavender, lemon and peppermint important oils
